Mitchell Technical Institute to Offer New Industrial Maintenance Technology Program at RTEC in Yankton This Fall!

If you have an interest in starting a career in the maintenance and service field or you are already working in the field and want to upgrade your skills, you'll want to sign up for the new Industrial Maintenance Technology program that Mitchell Technical Institute will begin offering at RTEC in Fall 2011. This new 9-month program will build on an Energy Star curriculum; infuse it with the Green Building Council's LEED standards for Operations and Maintenance of Commercial Buildings; and provide graduates with LEED Green Associate certification.

Graduates of the program will find opportunities in businesses such as hospitals, schools, manufacturing facilites and distribution centers. Because today's complex and sophisticated buildings, plants and factories require a highly-trained technical force to service and maintain the facilities and equipment, to control energy costs and to ensure facility quality for owners and clients, many organizations will benefit from the addition of an Industrial Maintenance Technician.

RTEC is an AWS Accredited Test Facility

Since July 2005, the Regional Technical Education Center (RTEC) has been recognized as an American Welding Society (AWS) Accredited Test Facility for the AWS Certified Welder Program.

What exactly does that mean? Being acknowledged as an AWS Accredited Test Facility means that RTEC has joined an elite group of facilities that can certify welders who meet AWS standards. Currently, RTEC is only one of two AWS Accredited Test Facilities in the entire state of South Dakota and one of only a few in the region to hold that designation.

If you are ready to put your skills to the test and wish to become AWS certified, please contact RTEC at (605) 668-5700 and we will set up a time for you to meet with the AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
