During this event, students will learn to weld, use lathes and mills, and gain an introduction to computer aided drafting (CAD) using SolidWorks software and 3D printers.
Students will also tour local manufacturing plants and meet local entrepreneurs.
In addition, students will develop teamwork and leadership by working in teams to brainstorm projects, create business plans, and follow manufacturing processes from concept to product.
This event is free to attend for students entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2019.
Students who complete the academy:
- can earn 0.5 credits from their high school if approved by the school district.
-may be eligible to receive 1 elective credit from Mitchell Technical Institute.
Lunches and snacks will be provided. Student should wear jeans without any holes or frays, close-toed shoes, pull back long hair, and refrain from wearing cologne, perfume, or hairspray.
Attendance, positive behavior, and respect for personnel and property are important.
A recognition ceremony will be help on the final Friday. Families and the public are invited to attend.
