About the course

Expand your welding knowledge through this 7-week, 48-hour introductory course.

Learn the basics of these welding types:

  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)

  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)

  • Flux Cord Arc Welding

  • Aluminum Welding

  • Tig Welding

Topics covered in this course include:

  • Welding positions

  • Weld defects and repair

  • Welding symbols

  • Basic types of material

  • Safe operation of a cutting torch

  • Brazing and gas welding

Following the successful completion of our Welding Basics Course, you will have a foundational understanding of the different types of welding as well as several weeks of practice welding. Enroll in our Skills Upgrade Course to bring your skills up to industry standard and prepare for the AWS certification.


When is this course offered? 

Monday and Wednesday evenings from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM from November 5th - December 17th.


Cost to attend

$1,700 plus applicable tax. Scholarships and financial aid are available.

 


Requirements

No prior welding experience is needed to take this course, but we encourage high school students to gain as much welding experience as possible through their high school offerings.


All RTEC welding classes are taught by AWS Certified Instructors with Certified Welding Inspector and Certified Welding Educator credentials.
