About the course

Expand your welding knowledge through this 7-week, 48-hour introductory course.

Learn the basics of these welding types:

  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Flux Cord Arc Welding
  • Aluminum Welding
  • Tig Welding

Topics covered in this course include:

  • Welding positions
  • Weld defects and repair
  • Welding symbols
  • Basic types of material
  • Safe operation of a cutting torch
  • Brazing and gas welding

Following the successful completion of our Welding Basics Course, you will have a foundational understanding of the different types of welding as well as several weeks of practice welding. Enroll in our Skills Upgrade Course to bring your skills up to industry standard and prepare for the AWS certification.


When is this course offered? 

Monday and Wednesday evenings from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM from May 21st to July 2nd.

(Please note: there will not be class on Monday, May 28th, in observance of Memorial Day)


Cost to attend

$1,600 plus applicable tax*. Scholarships are available.

*Cost will increase for courses beginning in July 2018.


Requirements

No prior welding experience is needed to take this course, but we encourage high school students to gain as much welding experience as possible through their high school offerings.
